We're really looking forward to our 4th Annual Rambling Fox Challenge competition, to be held this year near Kibworth, with Cubs, Scouts and Explorers starting and finishing at Kibworth Mead Academy, LE8 0LG.
The event will take place on Saturday 18th April, in a similar format to previous years: Cubs will walk with Shadow Walkers on an approximately 5 mile route, gaining points for navigation, teamwork, ongoing quiz questions and base activities. Scouts and Explorers will walk unattended on approximately 7 and 9 mile routes respectively, earning points in similar ways. This has been a well attended and popular event for the last 2 years and plans are well underway for another successful day.
Registration Timeline
- Registration will open soon - watch this space.
- Initial Registration and Payment Deadline - Midnight 27th Feb.
- After registering you will need to confirm all Team Members names and contact details by Fri 20th March
- Team Members will need to have returned Health Forms completed by 10th April
Registrations will be limited to 2 teams per competition per group and cost £60 per team. In previous years we have been able to offer additional team registrations in the Cubs and Explorers Competitions after the initial registration period has ended. As with previous years we are unlikely to be able to offer additional registrations in the Scout competition.
Badge Design Competition!
We need the help of any Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to design an amazing badge for this year's event! Badge templates must be circular but can be designed however they'd like. The final badge will have a green border with Rambling Fox 2026 written within this, so no need to include this within your designs.
A template for the badge can be downloaded here.
Please can all entries be sent to lauren.colwell@leicestershirescouts.org.uk by Saturday 14th February. We'd love as many entries as possible to make our best badge yet.
Be Prepared...
Some resources to help you prepare for the Rambling Fox 2026...
Kit List!
As an incident hike, Teams score points at different points through the day - and one of the first opportunities to loose points will be the kit check where the team will have to show that they have all the items on the kit list. Download your copy now and make sure you have all the items in your bag prior to check-in.
Practice Your Route Planning Skills!
As you prepare for Rambling Fox you might want to practice your Route Planning skills. This is the Route Planning challenge from the 2024 event. You'll need a map covering the area between Broughton Astley and Ullesthorpe.
Rules!
We encourage all Leaders and Participants to review the rules for the competition.
We hope you can make it! If you have any questions, please get in touch.
