We're really excited to open bookings for our 4th Annual Rambling Fox competition, to be held this year in Kibworth, with Cubs, Scouts and Explorers starting and finishing at Kibworth Mead Academy Smeeton Rd, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicester LE8 0LG. The event will take place on Saturday 18th April, in a similar format to previous years: Cubs will walk with Shadow Walkers on a roughly 8km route, gaining points for navigation, teamwork, ongoing questionnaires and base activities. Scouts and Explorers will walk unattended on approximately 11km and 15km routes earning points in similar ways. This has been a very popular event for the last 3 years and plans are well underway for another successful day.
Teams are initially capped at a maximum of 2 teams per competition per Group. (Ie. 1st Anytown can enter 2 Cub teams, 2 Scout teams and 2 Explorer teams. They cannot enter 2 teams from Monday Cubs and 2 more from Tuesday Cubs!) We will expand this out to allow 3rd or 4th teams should spaces remain past the initial deadline. Entry fees are £60 per team, including all event activities and support costs as well as a hotdog and drink at the end of the hike.
Once again we will be using the online booking system to support both event staff and Section Leaders with the basic event admin. Enter your teams here by Friday 27th February
We can only take a maximum of 50 Cub teams, 50 Scout teams and 25 Explorer teams - our Scout competition has 'sold out' in each of our previous 3 events, so teams are available on a first come, first served basis. We will make efforts to let everyone know if any of our competitions are close to being full, and will hold a waiting list where necessary.
Once you have done the initial entry, you will be asked to add in the teams onto your profile and you will be able to begin adding in details for your team members - however this does not need to be finalised until Friday 20th March. Health forms will go onto this site around a month before the event and will be sent out to parents directly from the system. We will need these completing by Friday 10th April.
You can view the full set of event rules and information for 2026 here (There have been some minor changes, so please do review these.)
We are once again also inviting all adult volunteers and Young Leaders to join the staff team and help make the event possible. We have roles available supporting as Base Team Leaders and Team Members, kit check and other HQ based roles, acting as event marshals, helping on car parking, acting as a spotter supporting teams with navigation and much more. Please sign up here by Friday 27th February.

Badge Design Competition!
We need the help of any Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to design an amazing badge for this year's event! Badge templates must be circular but can be designed however they'd like. The final badge will have a green border with Rambling Fox 2026 written within this, so no need to include this within your designs.
A template for the badge can be downloaded here.
Please can all entries be sent to lauren.colwell@leicestershirescouts.org.uk by Saturday 14th February. We'd love as many entries as possible to make our best badge yet.
Be Prepared...
Some resources to help you prepare for the Rambling Fox 2026...
Kit List!
As an incident hike, Teams score points at different points through the day - and one of the first opportunities to loose points will be the kit check where the team will have to show that they have all the items on the kit list. Download your copy now and make sure you have all the items in your bag prior to check-in.
Practice Your Route Planning Skills!
As you prepare for Rambling Fox you might want to practice your Route Planning skills. This is the Route Planning challenge from the 2024 event. You'll need a map covering the area between Broughton Astley and Ullesthorpe.
Rules!
We encourage all Leaders and Participants to review the rules for the competition.
We hope you can make it! If you have any questions, please get in touch.
